Delphic LIS Suite

Delphic is a well-proven, functionally rich Laboratory Information System (LIS) ideal for end-to-end information management for hospital and community laboratories. It covers all phases of the laboratory workflow process, from pre-analysis to analysis. It is adaptable to a variety of laboratory environments and fully customisable, making it ideal for multi-lab, multi-facility organisations promoting a shared service model. The Delphic’s core LIS is complemented by dedicated work area managers or middleware that cater to the unique workflow attributes in the anatomical pathology, haematology and microbiology disciplines. These middleware solutions benefit laboratories, through decreased operating overheads, improved turn-around reporting times and increased productivity.

Pre-analysis

Order entry / request management

Electronic: The clinician order entry module captures all essential information assets for the request (integrated with Delphic LIS or from third party system). On arrival at your lab, specimens and orders are acknowledged and move to processing and analysis. Electronic order entry enables decision support for clinicians including patient test result access at point of order, reducing unnecessary testing, while labs benefit from reduced manual entry which removes potential error and improves processing time.

Manual: Intuitive, keyboard or mouse driven registration module for paper-based requests. Scanned forms are easily stored, managed and accessed ensuring immediate retrieval of documents for cross-reference checking.

Sample collection management

Delphic optimises specimen collection and processing through lists, collection instructions and label creation and printing, helping to ensure accurate sample management.

Test referral manager

Specimen movement and logistics within and between laboratory organisations is streamlined in Delphic, benefiting multi-site labs and labs that send away or receive referral tests.

Specimen tracking

A specimen can be traced at any time during its processing as it progresses through the lab. The ability to identify exactly where your specimens are in the lab, e.g. on analyser, at reporting, storage etc. helps to improve workflow and turnaround times.

Analysis & Processing

The analytic phase is continually advancing as changes in technology and clinical laboratory science develop. Delphic guides lab staff in the provision of high-quality and clinically appropriate results.

Interfacing

Delphic interfaces with automation lines, specimen handling, point of care and analytic instrumentation and software (middleware) for streamlined processing of all requests. Delphic is responsive to changes in interfacing demands, supporting increasingly complex instrument interfaces, and growth in automation in your laboratory.

The interfaces seamlessly direct testing to the appropriate instrument depending on workload. They also provide for the management of specimen recall, repeat testing, dilutions, reflex testing, test add, plus test analyte results and comments.

Quality control

Delphic’s fully integrated QC functionality assures the accuracy and reliability of each analytical result produced by the laboratory, meeting accreditation requirements. Features include QC result capture from analyser; Westgard rules flagging; graphing and daily means calculation. Integration with third party QC products is also supported.

Result entry and validation Different levels of authorisation in Delphic allow the manual release of results depending on user permissions. Auto-validation and release of results is configurable using rules set per test and test group.

Delphic provides expert decision support on all results through temporal delta checks, result comparison, specimen interference, e.g. haemolysis, icterus. Post-analysis

Results reporting

Many labs now send reports electronically to clinicians. Delphic communicates with secure messaging delivery providers as well as direct interfaces to electronic medical records, clinical data epositories, national registries and primary care systems, e.g. GP PMS.

Paper reporting delivery methods in Delphic include advanced fax control and print management. Rules define the delivery of reports to end-users as well as notifications such as urgent reports and clinically significant results.

Your laboratory can offer clinicians secure web access to their patients’ records via PC, portal, tablet or mobile phone, allowing clinicians to view their results and place orders for new or additional test requests in the one central place, completing the pathology test-> request-> report cycle. Graphing of lab results, cumulative results, coloured indicators and result flags as well as interpretive comments are all features of the advanced report presentation.

Results enquiry / call centre

Delphic’s call centre module is a central point where your lab call centre staff can respond to requests for test results, test amendments, faxed reports and reports to be sent to additional doctors. The module is simple to use and assists your lab in offering superior customer service.

Specimen storage

A comprehensive specimen storage module organises the storage of specimens in lab refrigeration by assigning rack and location numbers, for easy management of your lab’s work.

Intelligent, efficient work area management

Delphic Haematology is a work area manager (WAM) or middleware designed specifically for the management of the routine haematology work area.

By streamlining the workflow and automating the release of normal results, Delphic Haematology can greatly improve efficiency in the laboratory.

Delphic Microbiology WAM

Effective microbiology management

Delphic Micro has been designed to emulate and manage the microbiology work area, ensuring a paperless and streamlined flow of information through the laboratory. sqr_micro

Delphic Micro uses a browser-based environment and is fully integrated with the Delphic LIS, easily accessed as a module of the Delphic web portal or Delphic Explorer.

Security

All information held in Delphic is subject to security measures at every level.

Access to the database is only available to authorised users, and users can be assigned varying degrees of access to enhance security for sensitive data. Audit trails track user movements and actions, to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the laboratory process.

Result validation

Varying levels of result authorisation are available, to validate patient results before the final report is issued. These can range from automatic matching against reference ranges, to final sign-out of abnormal results by senior staff.
