The biennial Sysmex Conference was held at Te Papa Tongarewa, the Museum of New Zealand in Wellington over three days from the 10th – 12th October. The delegates attending the conference included Sysmex customers from around New Zealand, Australia and Canada, as well as business partners and colleagues from industry related organisations.
The theme for the conference ‘Working together to advance healthcare’ was evident throughout the conference programme. The range of presentations from customers, industry representatives and Sysmex gave an excellent representation across the current environment in health IT and the presentation content truly illustrated the strength of working together – between and within healthcare organisations, health IT solution providers and government leaders to achieve a shared goal of advancing healthcare. Highlights included guest presenters from the Ministry of Health, National Health IT Board, healthAlliance, Auckland University as well as key customers including leaders from Canterbury District Health Board, Medlab Central, Pathology Associates, Counties Manukau District Health Board and Auckland District Health Board.
The social events throughout the conference were enjoyed by all with the highlights being the group tours of Te Papa, including the Kahu Ora Maori cloak exhibition, Golden days, The High Ride, interactive map and wall in Our Space, and the conference dinner. The dinner was a 1920’s themed event, and with everyone dressed in a fabulous array of costumes, the Icon room at Te Papa was transformed into “The Roaring Twenties”. Delegates danced the night away to fabulous local band, Mojo.
Feedback from delegates who attended the conference has been extremely positive and Sysmex look forward to the next event in 2014.
