CSR Activity

A special morning tea was held in the Sysmex office on Monday 14 August as we joined thousands across the country participating in the SPCA’s annual Cupcake Day fundraiser.

A popular event with the Sysmex team, our large number of volunteer bakers had the tables overloaded with a huge variety of cakes, slices and savoury items. And as usual, staff bravely put aside any concerns for their waistline to get behind this great cause. In keeping with the spirit of the day, all bakers used either free range or SPCA Blue Tick® high animal welfare approved eggs in their baking endeavours.

Each year, over 46,000 abused and neglected animals need love, care and shelter. The SPCA receives only a small amount of government funding, so rely on donations to carry out their work. Since 2009 they have raised over million through the annual Cupcake Day. The majority of these funds are allocated to our local centre (SPCA Auckland) with the remainder going to national projects including the SPCA’s education programme, the Inspectorate and Science/Research. SPCA Auckland is planning on building a second site in North West Auckland, to meet the increasing demand for animals that need help across the region due to Auckland’s growing population. To do this, they need to raise .5 million in just 12 months, so this is a great cause for us to be supporting this year.
