It may have been an early start and there were predictions of rain, but that didn’t stop three thousand cyclists coming together for the Bike the Bridge fundraising event last Sunday. The annual event has been raising money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society since its inception in 2011, but also offers participants the rare chance to cycle over the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

Sysmex staff and their families joined the sold-out event, cycling from Smales Farm on the North side over the bridge to Westhaven, then cycling back to Smales Farm – a 22 kilometre round trip. For the first time the event also offered a shorter 4 kilometre ride, letting younger family members join in the fun.

“We enjoyed our little ride so much we did it twice,” Said Rachel Ashton, Sysmex Microbiology Product Coordinator and Application Specialist, “I thought it was a really well organised event, for a worthy cause, and fun.”
